Nia Library​

CHARGE:
To address the problem of low literacy rates in Black children and teens in the Sacramento region.

To support the practice of Black children owning Black-centered books and reading at home.
To encourage and model reading; as a critical skill that positively impacts all learning.

APPROACH:
#1 - Establish a lending library for Sisters of Nia participants to manage and benefit from.
#2 - Establish a reading mentor program for Sisters of Nia participants to read to younger children via hosting book readings and/or visiting preschools and elementary (K-3) classrooms.
#3 - Host an annual Book Adoption community event gifting donated books to children.

Please support the Nia Library by donating new or gently used books OR by making a monetary donation toward the purchase of books.
