Synthia Smith is a wife and mother of two daughters, and has always had a passion for working with youth. She knew at the young age of eight that she wanted to be a teacher, and did just that. Along the way, she was often asked to tutor her peers in school, and after graduating high school, continued tutoring younger kids. She began working in the preschool setting at the tender age of 18, and has been in the field of education ever since.
My name is Malika Murray, and I have been a part of Sisters of Nia. since its first year. We started with ten sixth-grade girls in 2009, and now have reached a membership of thirty-six wonderful sistas who are blossoming into strong and confident young women. I have watched my group learn and build, laugh and cry, struggle and persist together during our wonderful cycle. There is nothing more powerful than to witness the positive growth and transformation of our future nation!
